Remember when you were a kid and you'd turn out the light for the night and you would literally jumb to your bed, because something might be under there and grab you?
Learning about this next tale brought back memories of the days when my kids were just toddlers and would jump the their bed. It also makes me wonder about what housekeepers in hotels really do...could explain the bed bug problems. Ugh... ready for this?
Tale: A couple checks into a hotel room, all night long they are dealing with an odor that just keeps getting worse. They finally make a call to management to complain, staff comes to their room, and eventually someone figures out the odor is worse by the bed.
Now, you know where this is headed...
The staff starts stripping the bed, nothing...the go to flip the mattress and the odor is unimaginable. Stuck in the box for mattress support is a decomposing body!
Now for the kicker part, this really happened to a missing person, she was gone several months and the continental room she was in had been used five times before she was found! So, I did some research and found this actually to be a good hiding place, even under the bed itself. How housekeeping couldn't find something under the bed is astonishing, but it happens. I found that this has happened in Maryland, New York, Florida, California, Jersey, and yep Vegas. Leaving the saying ' What goes on in Vegas can Decompose in Vegas'. I'm sure there are probably more, this is just what I was able to find in a couple hours of research.
Moral of the story, strange things happen and the next time you go to stay in a hotel, look around the bed before cuddling up for the night.

Central Iowa Mudman
Growing up in and around Newton, IA, I recall a tale I will share with you over what used to be a town called Metz. I can not find any facts to this tale as it is very old and seems to be fading with the generations. As any old story goes, it generally follows tradition of experience to those who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
A long time ago, when I was a young kid, my brother and some older kids wanted to go to what was called 'The Baby House'. I ventured along. On the way I was told a tale of how a man killed his family visiously there including a baby. There was a crib when we went and the place was definately spooky to me, but it was very dark and I thought I was in the house where a family was murdered by one of their own.
Later I heard of a tale of the Metz Mudman, where the story grew. According to some after the murders at the baby house the man was fleeing from the police and came to a bridge along the skunk river and crashed. The driver of the car was never found. After that when kids would go parking to do what teenage kids would do, there would be reports of a Mudman 'The Metz Mudman', that would disturb them, pretty much scaring them out of there.
If you have more to add or have another version of this story, let us know. As far as I can tell, with the story fading and people my age not remembering the tale clearly anymore, I am guessing it was just a tale to keep kids from parking. Some say there was probably just an old hermit living out there, that didn't want intruders.

The Maryland Goatman
As strange or lame as it sounds, tales of 'The Goatman in Maryland, has been occuring since the 1950's. This creature has been a scare or even considered a night terror since.
Several years ago a friend that grew up in Maryland shared his tale of the 'Goatman'. I laughed and finally commented that it sounded like a cheap horror movie. He remained very serious and continued his tale. After my initial reactions of laughter and disbelief, I began to wonder what this was originated from. So I did research on the 'Maryland Goatman' to find that there are alot of sightings and fearful tales of this creature. I couldn't believe all I was finding.
The 'Goatman' has been described as having a mans upper body, with horns on his head, red eyes and being hairy. The bottom portion of this man creature was goat like, only bigger. This creature is said to stand at approximately 7 feet tall and has long claws and considered to be fast.
No one is sure how this creatur come about, but there are speculations as to experiments gone wrong by a scientist for the National Agriculture Research Center, to speculation of experimental treatments performed on patients of a tuberculosis sanitarium.
Some say the 'Goatman' uses an axe, some say he uses his claws, but either way the creature stalks parked cars in the lonely rural roads around the woodland or forest , scratching on them leaving a sign of its being there. This creature is also considered to be a predator of farm dogs and dogs considered to be peits, mutilating these dogs in the night that are left on chains or in dog pens at night.
One story suggests that there was a couple that went down a rural road to park and make out. They heard something scratch on the car, thinking it was their friends trying to scare them, the male gets out. Hours passed and as it is becoming daylight, the girl gets out of the car to find her boyfriend mangled in the tree they parked beneath, blood dripping on the car.
I was unable to find any confirmed deaths by the 'Goatman', there are so many more creepy tales of this creature.
At the heart area of the woodland or forest there is a bridge, people claim if you stop late at night, you can hear the shrill braying of the 'Goatman'. As with all the sightings, pet mutilations and damaged cars, there were even sightings of a creature by a group of constructions workers. There seems only to be the word of people with sightings and possible, circumstantial proof of the existence of this creature, no solid proof.
Is there denial of the 'Goatman' to prevent frenzy or hysteria, dangerous mobs of dangerous hunters searching for the creature, or crowd situations...or is this just a tale used many years to scare kids?
